Annual Christmas Parade

I apologize in advance for the bluryness of these pictures, but the floats just wouldn’t stop and let me take their pictures!

So here is a glimpse into the world of a small town annual Christmas parade… there are a few staples that are in the parade.

First we have that one business in the area that actually spent a lot of time and money on their float (pretty sure they win each year)

We have the floats that include cactus, and I am pretty sure there is a cowboy on that float somewhere…

Picture 017

We have the church floats with the crosses pulled on a lowboy

Picture 016

We have the old cars draped in lights…

Picture 015

Of COURSE we have the Big Wheel pickup trucks…

Picture 014

The political floats (you can always be sure that in election years, there are going to be way more floats than usual because of these)

The town fire trucks…

And of course, we have the high school marching band, draped in lights over their uniforms…

So there you have it, a glimpse into the way we spend one Saturday night a year.  What the pictures cannot capture, even if they were crystal clear, is the enthusiasm that the people in this town have as they greet this parade each year.  As I was telling the new girl at work (who does not live in our town), the Christmas Parade is, in our small town, a BIG. DEAL.

I raised my children in a small town that had parades. It was fun. I see yours is held at night, extra intrigue there.
Now I live in a town that has a parade, that is so small, (the parade that is), that if I take a call I’ve missed it. We have 5,000 people here. XD
