Catching Up
I have been a slacker lately, and I apologize for that. I have had a busy weekend, and stayed home from work sick yesterday. This morning, when I got back to work, I was all about getting my actual work caught up, and then I sat down to read the blogs. Can you believe there were close to 70 blog posts on my reader that I hadn’t read (since I didn’t read them since Friday).
Anyhow, I am now caught up with the reading and commenting on the blogs. I also got the new members’ blog list up for February over in our group on NaBloPoMo, and got all the February blogs added to my google reader, so I think I am doing rather well actually.
ALSO! I finished books 11 and 12 on my list, and I need to head over there and update the list sometime soon. They are part of a series again, so no reviews of those yet, but sometime this week I will write the review on Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
I would like to take a moment and mention that the new Star Trek Online game came out this weekend (think World of Warcraft, but Star Trek world), and WEEEE! The nerd in me is rejoicing. The combining of my love of the Trek Universe, with my love of MMO’s and computer gaming, it is leaving me fairly breathless. Mike and I sat down for some serious gaming this weekend, something we haven’t felt the urge to do for a while now.
On another note, Mike and I are planning a weekend trip to Fredericksburg, Texas next weekend. For those of you not familiar, it is a town that was founded by the German settlers in Texas, and continues to celebrate the German heritage in Texas. They do this with AUTHENTIC German food (the teenager in me is rejoicing right now because I have missed good German food), and shops and museums, and just a general air of a German town. I am very, very much looking forward to this trip. It could only be more perfect if they sold Donar Kebabs there (granted, a Turkish food, but very popular in Berlin when I lived there). But even without those, I am planning to engorge myself with rich German food all next weekend, so if you don’t hear from me after that, I might be in a hibernating coma to sleep it all off.
Part of me cannot believe we are in February already. Where is this year going? You know, that is my only problem with aging. I never have been ashamed or upset by the number of my age. But the feeling that life is flying by quicker than I can grasp it… that has always bothered me. Each year on my birthday, it is a feeling not of “I am getting old” but more of a feeling of “It’s going too fast”, if that makes sense. I want this year to slow down a bit, let me savor the time, let me enjoy a moment or two before we find ourselves in the Christmas season again!
And yeah… one more word on my nerdy-ness. I subscribe to Wil Wheaton’s blog. Yeah, he is a really good writer, but really it is that I am that much of a nerd.

Glad to see you writing! I look forward to your review of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Although I have a BA in Literature, there is an entire library full of classics I haven’t read. I should be ashamed.

Well, I don’t have any degrees in literature, but I have been an avid reader my whole life. And yet, when my husband (who likes to read, but is not an avid reader) starts to list the classics that he has read, I am put to shame by the sheer volume of great books that I have never picked up. Something I mean to fix with this challenge.

You know, the odd thing is (well I guess it isn’t TOO odd) is that since I put the February blogs on my google reader, and since I am committed to commenting on the blogs that I have on my reader, I find that I am doing much better this month with the commenting thing.

Aww thanks
I am glad to have you aboard. Believe me, even with all the reading I do, I still don’t get to read nearly as much as I would like.

LOVE your blog. And I totally get where your coming from with the birthday thing. I hate that feeling that life is just going by too fast. I feel that way all the time! I just turned 30 on January 15th, so it really home for me this year!

*Fredericksburg Swoon*
The Peach Tree Inn is one of my favorites. I love their cookbooks and the feel of the place.
Enjoy the beauty that is the hill country. I am jealous, so jealous, of the fantastic weekend you’re planning… and just in time for heart day! Yay!
